Fabrics

Noble Fur coats, jackets and accessories are made from 100% synthetic fur-like and leather-like fabrics. All fabrics used in our products have the look and feel of real animal skins, yet no animals were used in the making of these garments.

We buy fabric all over the world, and look continuously for more because the distributors and what they carry change periodically. The fabrics we use are the best we can find, and people are usually confused when they see the fur and leathers — they're never sure whether it's real or fake.

"Faux" is French for "fake." We prefer to use "faux" when describing these fabrics because it is a richer and more sophisticated expression — perfect for our Noble Furs.

Faux Fur

The fur-like fabrics used in our Noble Fur products are all man-made. These hi-tech fabrics are manufactured to look like real fur, including dense "underfur" and longer "guard hairs". Because of this, our faux fur fabrics are like real fur — they are extremely warm. Some of our fur-like fabrics have cotton woven backing, while others have a synthetic knit backing.

Pile length

We use fabrics with various pile lengths. The short pile fabrics provide a slimmer silhouette. The "sheared" fabrics are very soft and dense, similar to velvet. The longer pile fabrics provide a loftier, fluffier appearance. We carry a few fabrics with curly fibers for trim.

Color patterns

Some fabrics are a solid color, creating a rich velvety appearance. The longer fibers tend to have color variations and look more animal-like. Some longer "guard hairs" have a sparkly, shimmering effect.

Fabrics that mimic leopard, lynx and chinchilla can have spots and striped effects.

Simulated pelts

Some fabrics have the appearance of "pelt" lines, created with a combination of color and pile length. Pelt designs with a scalloped hem create a very flattering, slimming silhouette. Some fabrics have a color stripe effect that gives the illusion of pelts, although they are not considered pelted because the pile is one length all over.

Some of our fabrics are embossed — a process that results in the pile being pressed into a pattern that resembles pelts.

Fiber content

The faux fur pile may be acrylic, polyester, nylon, silk, mohair, wool, or a combination of these fibers. The silk and mohair are gathered after the user no longer has a need for it.

Backing may be acrylic, polyester, nylon, cotton, or a combination of these.

Faux Suede

The suede-like fabrics used in our Noble Fur products are Ultrasuede and Ultrasuede Light. These fabrics look and feel like real animal suedes, yet are 100% polyester microfiber and non-fibrous polyurethane. Unlike real animal skins, Ultrasuede is colorfast and will not wrinkle, shrink, stretch or bag. The nap on Ultrasuede will not rub off and leave smooth spots. Ultrasuede breathes and is stain and blemish-resistant.

Ultrasuede is made using advanced ultra-microfiber technology. No other synthetic suede has the luxurious feel and superb performance as Ultrasuede. We use Ultrasuede exclusively in our Casual and Homecoming Collections.

Faux Leather

The leather-like fabrics used in our Noble Fur products are UltraLeather, a soft kid leather-like fabric with a knit backing. Ultraleather has the same attributes of Ultrasuede, including colorfast, wrinkle-free, and stain-resistant. You will find Ultraleather in our Casual Collection.

Lining

All Noble Furs are lined with heavy acrylic satin lining to provide a silky, luxurious softness against your skin.

Noble Furs have a unique identifying characteristic. Our Nobles logo is imprinted on the inside lining of every Noble Fur. You can tell that you have an original Noble Fur when you see this logo.

Purchasing Fabric

Although we are not a distributor of fabric, we offer yardage based on what is currently available. The miminum order is one yard. Let us know your needs (color, type of fur, yardage, and need date). We can provide samples as necessary.

Small quantities will be shipped within 7 days. Large quantities may require several weeks.

Periodically we offer bags of scraps for purchase. The pieces are remnants from our cutting room, and are suitable for doll clothes or craft projects. Contact us for our current supply.
